She scored two goals as the U.S. took second in the tournament. Following the 2011 World Cup, Morgan continued her strong play into 2012, making Team USA’s roster for the London Olympics. She went into the 2012 London Olympics as one of the rising stars of the U.S. women’s soccer team. Morgan scored three goals in six matches at the London Games. Morgan scored the game-winning goal in the 123rd minute of Team USA’s dramatic 4-3 semifinal win against Canada. Morgan won a gold medal in London, highlighting one of the best years of her international career. Morgan scored 28 goals for the U.S. in 2012, the third-most in a year by any player in U.S. history. Morgan struggled with injuries in 2013 and 2014, appearing in just 19 matches in the two years. However, she still managed to record 11 goals and eight assists in that time. Morgan went into the 2015 Women’s World Cup hobbled by injury, but still appeared in every game for the U.S. Morgan scored one goal in the tournament as she helped the U.S. win it’s first World Cup since 1999. Morgan scored five goals at the 2016 CONCACAF Olympic qualifying tournament, including a hat trick in the decisive semifinal match. In Rio, Morgan is looking to win her second Olympic gold with Team USA. Alex Morgan has been with the U.S.national team since 2010. In that time, she has scored over 60 goals for the U.S. and has won an Olympic gold medal and a World Cup title.
