Dutch cyclist Lasse Norman Hansen, who won the omnium gold in 2012, had a strong showing as this year’s omnium kicked off Sunday. He started with a bang winning both the scatch race and individual pursuit and had 80 points going into the last event of the day.

Unfortunately Hansen, he was the first out of the elimination race, which was won by Italian racer Elia Viviani. Viviani is currently second in the omnium standings behind France’s Thomas Boudat.
