Adeline Gray will represent the United States in women’s 75kg (165 lbs) freestyle wrestling at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Gray was born in Denver, Colorado. Gray began wrestling when she was 6 years old. Growing up wrestling, Gray competed primarily against boys. Gray is already a three-time world champion. Gray was also a 2015 Pan American Games champion. Gray has adopted the motto “Gray to Gold” for her Olympic run. Gray will be competing at her first Olympics. The U.S. does not yet have a gold medal in women’s wrestling. Gray is currently ranked No. 1 in the world in her 75kg weight class. Gray enters the Rio Games as the favorite to win gold in her weight class. “We are really ready for that Olympic gold medalist, and I would love to fill those shoes,” Gray once said. Gray is also an outspoken advocate for women’s wrestling in the U.S. The three-time world champion could win Team USA’s first ever gold medal in women’s wrestling.
