Modern pentathlete Yane Marques will carry Brazil’s flag during the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games Friday. When she does, she will become the second woman to carry the Brazilian flag during the Ceremony.

Marques is excited to make her third Olympic appearance in her home country.

“When they said Rio de Janeiro, I thought, oh my gosh, now I want to go! I must,” she said.

She previously finished 18th in Beijing and won bronze at the London Games. She is expected to be in contention for gold this year after finishing third at the World Championships and winning the Pan American Games in 2015.

She originally began her career as a swimmer before trying pentathlon at her coach’s suggestion.
