Inna Deriglazova of Russia defeated 2012 gold medalist Elisa Di Francisca of Italy in a thrilling final bout to claim women’s Foil gold of her own.
12-11 proved to be the final touch count as time ran out on Di Francisa.
The defending champion scored four straight touches in the final 45 seconds, the last of which coming with 2.4 seconds remaining to draw within one touch.
Deriglazova fought off a desperate last lunge from Di Francisa to take gold.
