The threat to the U.S. basketball reign is real, and it’s Australian.

The United States pulled out a hard-fought 98-88 victory but it was far from easy. It took a heroic fourth-quarter effort from Carmelo Anthony and Kyrie Irving, who combined for 28 of the United States 30 points in the final period, to pull out the victory.

Anthony, who set the United States all-time Olympic scoring mark in the first quarter, 31 points, including nine three-pointers.
