BOSTON (WHDH) - It’s the best way to celebrate the 4th of July — the Boston Pops on the Esplanade with fireworks.
And this year you can watch the festivities live on
7News starting at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4th.
“We’re excited to air this iconic holiday tradition so you can join the party without ever leaving home,” said station owner Ed Ansin. “We are delighted to be working with Bloomberg and the Boston Symphony in order to bring the concert to all of our viewers.”
It’s one of the biggest outdoor concerts in the world — a birthday party for the nation that attracts about a half-million people to the banks of the Charles River to watch the fireworks to the sounds of the 1812 Overture.
Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart has been conducting the patriotic Pops party for more than 20 years.
“It is such an incredible event,” he said in a 2017 interview. “It’s an event that means so much to so many people and is so iconic in the life of Boston and the Commonwealth that it’s a thrill to be a part of it.”
This year’s concert will showcase an all-women’s lineup of guest artists. Newton native Rachel Platten will be performing along with the Indigo Girls, Grammy Award-winning Rhiannon Middens of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, and American Classic Rita Moreno.
And now 7News will be part of the party as well. Mark your calendar. Tune in on July 4 starting at 8 p.m. for live coverage of this event.
