BOSTON (WHDH) - Divers freed a boat that had run aground off George’s Island in the Boston Harbor Monday morning.

Marine 44, a vessel in the Massachusetts State Police Marine Section, was transporting two members of the State Police Underwater Recovery team to the Boston Coast Guard base when they heard reports of a stranded pleasure boat, according to a release issued by M.S.P.

Despite heavy fog, the team was able to locate the vessel which had run aground in two to three feet of water.

Due to the boat’s location, neither Marine 44 nor a private tow boat could reach it.

Massachusetts State Police divers then entered the water, swam to the vessel, and were able to maneuver it into a position where rescuers could attach tow lines.
