BOSTON (AP) — A serial bank robber who used a mountain bike to make his getaway after robbing three Massachusetts banks has been sentenced to more than three years in prison.

John Soule was sentenced Friday to three and a half years and ordered to pay more than $58,000 in restitution for robbing banks in Quincy, Boston and Cambridge last year.

Authorities say the 53-year-old Abington man would enter the banks, jump over the teller’s counter and demand money. In one case, police say he made off with more than $42,000.

Soule was captured on video surveillance riding the mountain bike before and after the robberies.

He was arrested in September 2017 with more than $8,000 in his possession.
