NBC’s “The Voice” will feature Rhode Island native Billy Gilman Monday night.

His rendition of Adele’s “When We Were Young” topped the show’s charts this month and now he is preparing for the battle round.

The 28-year-old caught the attention of all four judges during his tear-jerking performance.

Gilman is not new to the entertainment business.

At the age of 12, he released an album featuring a track that made the Country Billboard Top 40 seven weeks in a row.

Later in life, he came out publicly as a gay man to fans on YouTube.

He said that experience and his recent performance on “The Voice” makes him feel like he can finally be himself.

Gilman chose to join team Adam.

“The Voice” airs at 8 p.m. on NBC.
