LOS ANGELES (NBC) — Once upon a time running 10ks or marathons was enough for many weekend athletes, but in the past few years millions have gravitated to obstacle course races, mudder
events, and spartan races.
You can get a look at what it’s all about tonight with the premiere of “Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge” on NBC.
“Every obstacle that you face, you need your teammate next to you. Every single teammate next to you in order to get through it,” says Spartan course reporter Evan Dollard.
36 teams of two men and two women compete, each one led by an elite Spartan athlete.
The obstacles they face are not imposing not only physically, but mentally as well.
The team that meets the challenge of the Spartan course fastest will come away $250,000 richer.
