HAVERHILL, MASS. (WHDH) - Opposites attract — which is why highly-controversial Hillary Clinton picked low-key Tim Kaine as her running mate.

Tonight, Kaine introduced himself to America, and I’m not sure how many Americans will remember him, or that it matters. Before the biggest audience he’s ever addressed, Kaine passed perhaps his biggest test: Proving that he’s ready, able, and willing to take on Donald Trump. He is!

He also talked about his family and political life. It’s surprising we don’t know more about him, since he’s been in politics for more than twenty years. And, according to his official bio, he’s one of only 30 people in American history to have served as a mayor, governor and United States senator.

Tim Kaine seems destined to be overshadowed. Tonight by President Obama; during the campaign, by Hillary Clinton.

But don’t blame Kaine. He can take some comfort in this quotation: “Remember, no one decides who they’re going to vote for based on the vice president.”

You know who said that? Joe Biden.
