ROSELAND, MI (NBC) — Fourteen dogs died after a transport truck overheated in Michigan.

The dogs died Friday night in Roseland, Michigan, after a driver hooked the air conditioning system up to a receptacle before going into the hotel.

But something went wrong with the A/C unit. The system failed, and the dogs died from the heat.

The dogs were in town for the Michigan Kennel Club AKC Dog Show.

The other owners in the show shared in the sadness of the tragedy with the community at large.
