CENTERVILLE (MA) — A person was seriously injured in a car crash on Route 28 and Phinney’s Lane in Centerville overnight Friday.

A woman was rescued by Centerville Firefighters who used the Jaws of Life to free her from the car.

Officials said they saw two Sedans heavily damaged in the front when they arrived around 9:30 p.m., when winds were howling and temperatures were below freezing. COMM Fire officials say the wind caused debris from the crash to blow away.

The woman was rushed to South Shore Hospital’s Trauma Center after MedFlight reported they could not fly due to high winds.

Two more ambulances rushed to the scene to transport two other patients to another local hospital.

Accident Reconstruction teams from the Yarmouth Police Department shut down Route 28 to investigate the scene.

The status of the three patients is unknown at this time.
