Hot & humid conditions for the most part have eluded New England this late spring/early summer thanks to a jet stream delivering refreshing air every 3-5 days. This type of pattern doesn’t allow for any sustained heat or humidity. There are signs that the jet stream will buckle in a way that will allow for heat & humidity around these parts early next week.
Today will be a preview of that hotter pattern with hot & humid weather expected across southern New England as many towns away from the beaches get close to 90. The humidity will be on the rise through the day as well but despite this heat & humidity the risk of showers & storms is minimal as there is nothing to lift the hot & humid air. Great beach day ahead.
By tomorrow a cool front creeps on us and this front will be able to lift this warm & humid air skyward. The result will be clouds, showers & thunderstorms. I think the risk of showers & t-storms will be with us at anytime tomorrow even though it won’t be a washout (not a day for the beaches tho). The rain is good as many towns are running rainfall deficits for June (Boston -.76″). I think most towns pick up .25″ with some of the heavier downpours dropping an inch of rain.
The front slides offshore on Friday allowing for fresh, dry air to return just in time for the weekend!
