Melbourne, Australia (NBC) — A young driver led police on a high speed car chase near Melbourne Friday, nearly hitting a pedestrian.

The driver was believed to be a teenager who drove erratically though streets North of Melbourne, narrowly missing other vehicles and driving on the wrong side of the road, local media reported.

Police believe the driver was driving about 75 miles per hour and had another passenger with him.

Police called off pursuing the car as it became too dangerous, local media reported.
