PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Court documents say a girls’ track team coach told investigators he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old high school student he was coaching.
Twenty-seven-year-old Timothy Even appeared in a Portland court Wednesday on charges of gross sexual assault. He wasn’t required to enter a plea. A judge agreed to a reduced bail of $2,500 requested by Even’s lawyer.
Even’s bail conditions include having no contact with the alleged victim.
A police affidavit says the Westbrook High School coach acknowledged he had sexual relations with the student after he was shown copies of text messages the two had exchanged. Authorities allege the two had sex four times between April and September.
The full-time ed tech has been placed on administrative leave. His next court appearance is scheduled for December.
