BOSTON (WHDH) - The French Cultural Center of Boston will hold its annual Bastille Day celebration Friday night, following the terror attack in Nice, France, on Thursday.

The celebration turned somber as people mourned the loss of so many.

Police were on hand during set up Friday afternoon.

The celebration is a French-style street party with music, food and drinks.

“I think today the main theme is unity and celebration, Bastille Day is obviously an important part of French culture and it bleeds over into American culture and I think everyone coming together is a nice symbol,” vendor Jesse Cooley said. “The point is to continue uniting, that way terrorists don’t win.”

The event starts at 6 p.m.
