Boston police have made an arrest in connection with a shooting in Dorchester that left a man dead and a woman seriously injured.

Just after midnight on Saturday, Aug. 20, officers responded to a call for a person shot in the area of Dudley Terrace in Dorchester.

When officers arrived, they found a man and woman suffering from gunshot wounds.

The woman was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was later identified as Ailton Goncalves, 35 of Dorchester.

On Saturday, Aug. 27, Boston police arrested Aaron Almeida, 22 of Hyde Park, in the area of Morrissey Boulevard and Neponset Avenue.

Almeida will be arraigned on charges of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

The Boston Police Department is actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Unit at (617) 343-4470.
