A woman was arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash in Dorchester on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old Dorchester woman is set to be arraigned Thursday.

Police said the male victim was hit while crossing Washington Street just after 8 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Surveillance video shows a minivan driving away from the scene. Four miles away, police said they located a VHS Transportation van on Morton Street in Mattapan with a shattered windshield and heavy front-end damage.

The owner of VHS Transportation, that specializes in transporting people with special needs, said that police were questioning one of his drivers who operates the van but was not working at the time.

"Awful, awful, awful," said Vin Savill, the owner of VHS Transportation. "It’s terrible for us and of course it’s terrible for the person she hit."

Boston Police said they are not releasing the name of the suspect or the victim at this time. Witnesses said the victim was possibly a construction worker from a nearby work site.
