CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island man accused of shooting his estranged wife and her male friend in a pizza parlor parking lot has made his first court appearance, though he had to be removed from the courtroom after repeated outbursts.

Officers escorted Thomas Alejo from the courtroom Friday during his arraignment on charges including assault with intent to commit a felony, domestic assault and firearms charges.

Alejo did not enter a plea.

It was unclear Friday if Alejo has an attorney.

Police say they arrested the 40-year-old Cranston man Thursday night following a search for his vehicle.

Prosecutors say Alejo shot and wounded the victims Wednesday outside the Pizza Fair restaurant. Both were treated at the hospital for minor gunshot wounds and have been released.
