BOSTON (WHDH) - Attorney Gary Zerola was arraigned Wednesday on a sexual assault charge — the fourth time he has been charged.

Zerola hid behind his own lawyer in court when he appeared before a judge and pleaded not guilty to raping a woman in Boston.

The one-time assistant district attorney for Suffolk County, was acquitted on two rape cases in 2008.

Zerola was also charged in a 2008 rape case, though charges were later dismissed.

That wasn’t the end of his legal troubles, however. In 2009, he was accused of assaulting a Boston police officer. He was acquitted of that charge, too.

The lawyer went on to open his own law practice in Boston, specializing in criminal defense. His website says he represents clients accused of rape and sexual assaults, charges he finds himself facing once again.

Zerola is also well known for being one of People Magazine’s most eligible bachelors in 2001.
