Auburn Police arrested a man over the weekend for his sixth OUI offense.

On Feb. 14, officers responded to Route 20 at Millbury Street for a reported hit-and-run crash where a black pickup truck rear-ended another vehicle in traffic.

A State Trooper who was in the area located the vehicle in an industrial park a short distance from the crash site and contacted Auburn Police.

Officers identified the operator as Scott F. Tatro, 41 of Worcester. It was determined that he was highly intoxicated and he was taken into custody.

Further investigation showed Tatro had an outstanding arrest warrant and a suspended driver’s license. It was also discovered that he had been convicted five previous times for operating under the influence of liquor.

During booking, Tatro said he had not been properly licensed for 15 years but intended to keep driving because he "didn’t care," police said.

Tatro was held on $5,000 bail and will be arraigned in Worcester District Court on Feb. 16.

He is charged with operating under the influence, sixth offense; operating after license suspended, subsequent offense; negligent operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
