PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island health officials have closed two beaches in Warwick and one in Narragansett to swimmers because of high bacteria counts in the water.

The state Department of Health on Thursday recommended the closure to swimming of City Park Beach and Conimicut Point Beach in Warwick and Scarborough State Beach in Narragansett.

Health officials say they will reopen the beaches once bacteria levels are safe.

The state regularly monitors water quality at beaches throughout the summer months to ensure safe conditions for swimmers.
