BILLERICA, MASS. (WHDH) - A Billerica man was in court Monday, where he was charged with injuring a police officer last week.

Police said Eric Oblenis, 28, hit and dragged a police officer with a van on Friday before he drove off.

Police said the officer approached the van in a Rite-Aid parking lot on Boston Road for acting suspiciously. Oblenis then allegedly backed the van into the officer and dragged him 15 feet.

The officer is expected to be OK. Oblenis was charged with assault and battery on a police officer.
