SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts authorities say a body recovered from the Connecticut River is a 5-year-old California girl who went missing over the July Fourth weekend.

A spokeswoman for the Northwestern district attorney's office announced Wednesday that the state medical examiner has confirmed that the body pulled from the river in South Hadley last week is Abigail Luker of La Mesa, Calif.

Abigail went missing July 6 while visiting Massachusetts with her family. She was last seen on a dock on the river.

Her body was recovered July 10 about 500 yards downstream.

The death is considered an accident.
