SOUTH BOSTON (WHDH) — Boston Marathon bombing victims and their families gathered in Moakley Federal Court Wednesday as bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev appeared for the first time in front of a federal judge.
“I actually felt sick to my stomach. It’s very emotional for me. So I actually felt, I’m angry but I actually felt , I don’t know. I feel sorry for everybody,” said Liz Norden. Both of her sons lost a leg in the April 15 attack.
Many of the victims needed crutches in order to make their way to the federal court house but said they wanted to be there to see the man accused of hurting them and hundreds more. They wanted to come for those who could not. They said seeing Tsarnaev was upsetting.
“He turned and look at his supporters and kind of had like a smirk on his face. It was kind of upsetting,” said bombing victim, Mildred Valverde.
Many who came to court said they wanted to make sure people don’t forget. While two men are accused of causing so much pain, there were thousands who have showed their support for the victims.
“He is insignificant to me. What I say all the time is two minutes of awful and hundreds of hours of amazing, wonderful people and experiences and they’re nothing, they’re insignificant,” said bombing victim, Karen Brassard.
Some of the victims said they plan to make it to federal court even though it will be difficult for them and the MIT police officers plan to line up for each of those as well.
