A 34-year-old Florida man was arrested Monday after allegedly he fired shots inside a Back Bay hotel.

Andrew Flack, 34, of Orlando, Florida, is facing charges of unlawful possession of a gun, unlawful possession of ammunition and firing a gun within 500 feet of a dwelling, according to Boston Police.

At around 10:20 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to the Taj Hotel on Arlington Street and 811 Massachusetts Ave. for reports of shots fired.

When officers arrived at the hotel, an employee told them he saw a man, who had been drinking at the hotel bar, leave with an alcoholic drink in his hand. The worker told the man he could not drink outside, police said. The man then got angry and tossed his glass to the ground, went outside onto the street and fired a shot, police said.

The man fled the area on foot before officers could arrive. However, police say they got the man’s name from his unpaid bar bill and issued a description to other officers.

As officers were searching for the man, they responded to the second shots fired report at 811 Massachusetts Ave.

Police, including SWAT officers, quickly arrested Flack.

Police say Flack had got into a taxi after firing his gun and told the driver to take him to an undisclosed location. Police say Flack fired inside the taxi and the driver stopped. Flack fled the cab before officers stopped him at Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street.

Police say they later recovered a loaded .380 handgun from the back of the taxi.
