BOURNE, MASS. (WHDH) - An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday for allegedly assaulting a teenage girl in Bourne last week.

Police said the girl had been walking along Puritan Road when she was grabbed from behind and thrown to the ground by a man she did not know. The man allegedly grabbed the girl by the neck but a witness came upon the scene and stopped the assault. The man then fled the scene. The girl was not injured.

On Thursday, police said an investigation led to the arrest of John Allen, of Buzzards Bay. Allen was charged with felony attempted kidnapping and strangulation, in addition to other lesser charges. He posted bail late Thursday and will be arraigned on Friday.
