BOSTON (WHDH) - A suspect accused of trying to rob a credit union in West Roxbury was chased down and arrested by a detail officer.

Police said the masked suspect attempted to rob the City of Boston Credit Union on Spring Street. Police said a detail officer, hired by the credit union, interrupted the robbery in progress and asked the suspect to remove his mask. The suspect then allegedly asked for her gun and she refused, chasing him out of the bank.

Police said the suspect took off in a small red car. A police captain who was in the area helped identify the suspect and an arrest was made just outside an Italian restaurant called Tony’s Place.

A bag was allegedly recovered but it is not known if the suspect got away with any money. Sources told 7News the suspect was out on parole for another bank robbery.
