BOSTON (WHDH) - The clean-up has begun after a storm moved through the Boston area.

Powerful winds created plenty of damage in several towns across the state.

The wind and rain caused trees to topple over.

In Jamaica Plain, a tree blocked Tower Street. Part of the tree landed on a van.

Sochi Mendez, who uses a wheelchair, had the van specially outfitted for her use. This was the second time in two months a tree has fallen on one of her cars.

“I heard a noise and looked over the window and saw the car,” said Mendez.

“It’s horrible, I don’t understand how it could be,” she added.

Over in Newton, a tree crashed down across the fence and landed on Lauren Blair’s SUV.

“We were just in church, I wouldn’t have thought we’d come out to see a large tree on my car,” said Blair.

The brief storm caused more damage than expected in many other towns.

A car at a Malden cemetery was underneath trees that were ripped from their roots.

Over in Shirley, a road was blocked off with cones after a tree in the road made it impassable.
