A cable that caused an explosion at a Rhode Island beach may have counterparts nationwide.

The Coast Guard provided The Associated Press with 48 sites in 12 states where lights were converted to solar power, but electric cables may still be buried.

Scientists say hydrogen may have built up around a corroded cable at Salty Brine Beach in Narragansett before last summer’s explosion, which injured a woman.
