CAMBRIDGE, MASS. (WHDH) - A Styrofoam ban will begin this Thursday in the city of Cambridge.

The Cambridge Polystyrene Ordinance bans businesses in Cambridge from serving food in single-use disposable containers.

Styrofoam is not biodegradable and may have harmful chemicals, which officials say is the driving force behind the ban.

The city will still allow Styrofoam to be used in packaging raw meat, fish and eggs.
