A 2-year-old died after falling from a building in Dorchester Wednesday afternoon, police confirmed.
The child had been rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition, after falling at least four stories. Superintendent in Chief William Gross told The Boston Globe that the boy was either 2 or 3 years old and the fall was reported at about 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The incident occurred at a day care on Columbia Road.
There was a debate whether the child had fallen from a window or from the roof of the building.
Sources told 7News parents were not on the scene.
The child was found on the pavement at the back of the building and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police are investigating whether the child fell from the roof or a window of the four-floor building.
“You see a little boy, like he was not moving, nothing. But when they put him in the stretcher he was fine. He was, he was semi-talking but he still couldn’t move too much. But he was all busted up and it was just bad. It made me feel bad because I have a 2-year-old and to see that happen like it was just crazy,” said Shantiqua Steele, a neighbor in Dorchester.
