BOSTON (WHDH) - After receiving news coverage and backlash for what turned into an ugly performance for Comedian Wanda Sykes in Boston this weekend, Sykes penned a message on Facebook to explain herself.

Following her set at the “Comics Come Home” charity-event held at the TD Garden, Sykes described President Elect Donald Trump as racist, sexist and homophobic.

Crowds booed the comedian’s politically-charged commentary, which she writes in her post was set-up for jokes.

According to her post, Sykes says she stayed on stage following the crowd’s booing and told more jokes.

As she exited the stage, Sykes flipped off the crowd.
