LAWRENCE, MASS. (WHDH) - A Lawrence grandfather is able to hear clearly for the first time in years after a company donated new hearing aides.

Jacques Dorisca, 83, has struggled with profound hearing loss for more than six years. He has relied on his wife, Marie, to be his ears and his voice.

“Sometimes I am telling him things, he doesn’t understand, he doesn’t hear. And he feels very nervous about it and sometimes he’s frustrated,” said Marie Dorisca.

Dorisca’s family wrote a letter to Beltone, asking the company for help. The Beltone Hearing Care Foundation then decided to donate new $6,000 hearing aides to Dorisca. The foundation donates hearing aides to those in need and are unable to get them.

Dorisca said he is very grateful and is happy he can communicate with his wife, six children and 18 grandchildren again.

“Now he’s hearing us and I think that will make life much, much better,” said Marie Dorisca.
