MEDFORD, MASS. (WHDH) - A crane collapsed on the Medford-Everett line Thursday, flipping completely over.

The crash happened at the scene of a bridge project next to the Revere Beach Parkway. Workers were putting their equipment away when the crane became unbalanced and fell over.

The crane was carrying 200 gallons of diesel fuel, which started leaking. Environmental groups were called in to help with the cleanup.

The operator was trapped inside and suffered a broken arm and wrist. His coworkers cut him out with a torch before first responders arrived.

The operator, who works for Coastal Marine, was taken to Mass General Hospital and is expected to be OK.

Investigators with OSHA will be back on the scene Friday.
