SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts authorities have released the name of the man who died when the vehicle he was driving crashed in Springfield after a high-speed police chase that started in Connecticut.

The Hampden district attorney on Thursday said 26-year-old John Font-Rodriguez, of New Britain, Connecticut, died in last Friday’s crash.

Massachusetts troopers were alerted at about 12:30 a.m. that Connecticut State Police were pursuing a car on Interstate 91 that refused to stop.

Connecticut troopers broke off the pursuit at the state line and a short time later a Massachusetts trooper spotted the vehicle that was traveling at speeds estimated as high as 100 mph, and gave chase.

The car lost control when taking an exit ramp and crashed. The pursuit in Massachusetts lasted about a minute.

The crash remains under investigation.
