NAHANT, MASS. (WHDH) - Police have confirmed that a diver pulled from the water off the coast of Nahant has died.

Officials say Vinicious Vianna, 38 of Danvers, died after he was pulled from the water  off East Point. A second diver, a 42-year-old man from New Bedford, was treated for exhaustion.

Police received a 911 call from a woman who said two scuba divers were in the water and one was unresponsive. The Nahant Harbormaster vessel pulled both of the divers out of the water.

The men were taken to Salem Hospital for treatment.

A preliminary investigation indicates Vianna ran out of oxygen. When he attempted to return to the surface, the current pushed him against some rocks.

Vianna was reportedly an experienced diver and was certified as a rescue diver.

Police are still investigating but say there are no indications of foul play.
