A mother and her two young daughters were victims in a drunk driver crash in Salem Sunday night.

Police say Dexter Mitchell, 52, of Beverly faces drunk driving charges. Mitchell struck the woman and her daughters, both under the age of 12, as they were crossing the street on Washington and Bridge Streets shortly after 8p.m. Police say the area is a busy intersection near the courthouse and downtown.

One of the victims was rushed to Massaschusetts General Hospital and the other two were sent to Salem Hospital.

Mitchell faces OUI charges, leaving the scene of an accident and failure to yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk.

Both of the children had serious but non-life threatening injuries.
