(NBC) — A 39-year-old elephant in Eastern Japan gave birth to a calf on Thursday.

The elephant, Asha, is the oldest elephant ever to give birth in Japan.

The male calf weighs in at around 270 pounds.

Asha used to live at the Toyohashi Zoo in Aichi Prefecture. But after neglecting her first-born calf, she was moved to a specialized facility in Chiba Prefecture.

Last Thursday, the calf was able to stand on its own. It will live with the mother for now at Ichihara Elephant Kingdom.
