BEVERLY, MASS. (WHDH) - Endicott College honored ALS Ice Bucket Challenge founder and Beverly native Pete Frates by naming a residence hall in his honor.
Frates, a former Boston College baseball player, was 27 years old when he was diagnosed with ALS back in 2012. Since his diagnosis, he has advocated for the search for a cure, creating the Ice Bucket Challenge that has since raised millions of dollars that has gone towards research.
During the dedication, Endicott students attempted to break the record for the world’s largest ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. The current record is 776.
