Ahhhh…….sunshine today…no threat of rain/snow lines or changing forecasts….just focusing on sunshine and milder temps in the midst of this stormy pattern. I wish today was the start of a nice long stretch of dry weather but it’s not as more unsettled weather heads into new England this evening.

First things first, sunshine will give those temps a nice boost as many cities & towns reach the mid 40s…above normal for the first time in over two weeks!!! February temps are running around 3 degrees below normal but the next three days will eat into that deficit somewhat. All in all, a great winter day for outdoor activities.

Tonight our next storm arrives…it will be in two pieces and the first piece gets here around 8-9pm. The first part of this storm will be chilly so some freezing rain, snow & snow are likely along I-495 and points north/west of there. Slick travel likely after 9pm until 3am tomorrow. Just plain rain through metro Boston.

Part two of the storm is milder. Friday starts with clouds, fog & drizzle and then showers arrive to the party during the afternoon. Even though the storm is milder for us, some of you will see really mild air by afternoon. South of the Pike is where the warm air takes hold as temps reach the low 50s but north of the MA Pike, plan on temps near 40 for much of the day. Rainfall is not a good thing with 2 feet of snow on flat roofs & thankfully it’s not heavy rain. Most towns will pick up .25-50″ of rain by evening.

Drier weather makes a return this weekend and we hold onto the early spring temps as well. Awesome for skiing!
