Fall River Police have arrested a man in connection with an armed robbery over the weekend.

Police arrested Jose Tirado-Sanchez, 36, for a violent robbery at Jarek’s Market Sunday morning.

The said he is lucky to be alive after he fought back.

The clerk said the suspect jumped up on the counter, armed with a knife, and demanded cash. The clerk reached down to give him cash and then grabbed his own knife. The two then got into a struggle that was caught on surveillance video.

"I am scared, of course," said the clerk. "If he had stabbed me, I would die."

They struggled near the refrigerators before the clerk pushed the suspect towards the door and he ran off. The clerk suffered cuts to his face and hand during the fight.

The clerk said he had noticed the suspect loitering around the store a few days before the robbery. Police said the suspect came to the store on a bicycle but fled on foot. He also dropped his knife as he left and police now have the weapon.
