QUINCY, MASS. (WHDH) - A family was taken to the hospital after a car crashed through a burger restaurant in Quincy Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened at Wild Willy’s Burgers on Washington Street right around lunchtime.

“Before I know it, I’m in the middle of taking an order and I hear glass smashing and then I look up and I see a car coming through the door and everything is caving in and people flew on top of the counter,” said restaurant employee Emily Amrock.

Police said a 90-year-old man was driving and his wife was the passenger. Restaurant owner Ruth Bennett said the two are regular customers. Police said the man does not remember the crash happening and witnesses said both appeared to be in shock.

A family of four vacationing in the area from California was ordering at the counter when the crash happened. All four were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and are expected to be OK.

Police said the man cause of the crash appears to be operator error. Police said the man had a clean driving record and charges will not be filed, but he will be losing his driver’s license.
