CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Christopher Burke have confirmed Bernard Lavins, 60, of Lexington as the bicyclist who was fatally struck by a tractor-trailer in Porter Square Wednesday morning.

Lavins was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained on scene following the collision.

The collision is being investigated by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, the Cambridge Police Department and the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.

People who live nearby said the intersection has a dangerous history.
