PITTSFIELD, MASS. (WHDH) - The FBI has arrested an alleged member of a local gang on drugs charges.
Efrain Vasquez-Yanez, an alleged member of the MS-13 gang, has been charged with RICO conspiracy and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
State Police, Pittsfield Police and the US Marshals Task Force took Vasquez-Yanez into custody without incident Thursday morning just before 8:30 a.m. after police developed information about his connection to the Pittsfield area.
On Jan. 26, 2016, Vasquez-Yanez was indicted in federal court in Boston along with 55 other members and close associates of La Mara Salvatrucha.
Last week, the FBI’s North Shore Gang Task Force announced a reward of up to $20,000 for information leading to his arrest.
No money will have to be paid out, police said.
