The FBI said it has arrested a suspect in a string of jewelry store robberies across the southeast region.

Authorities said 24-year old Abigail Lee Kemp is the woman responsible for a crime spree that includes a robbery at a North Carolina jewelry store last Monday.

The same suspect is believed to have carried out at least six robberies in five southern states since last April.

The FBI’s Jacksonville division began to receive numerous credible leads from the public after asking for assistance last week.

In addition to Kemp, a second person was taken into custody at the same time. That person’s identity is not being released at this time.

The other robberies took place in Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Georgia.

The FBI continues to ask the public for information that may assist in the ongoing investigation.
