BOSTON (WHDH) - The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for several counties in Massachusetts.

The alert is for Bristol, Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Plymouth, and Suffolk counties.

Rain throughout the region over the past several days has accumulated steadily, and heavier rain is expected in the forecast.

The National Weather Service says minor urban and small stream flooding could occur, and drivers should be wary of driving through flooded roads.

Up to one inch of rain has already fallen in the region.

Meteorologist Rob Eicher says half an inch to an inch of rain could continue to fall in the affected counties.
