An Evanston, Illinois girl wrote a letter to Monopoly game maker Hasbro to complain that the lead female character had been left out of the latest Star Wars Monopoly board game.

"I felt very annoyed and frustrated," 8-year old Annie Rose said when she realized Rey, her favorite character in "The Force Awakens," wasn’t included in the Star Wars Monopoly game.

"I mean come on,” Annie Rose said. “She’s the main character. Without her, there would be no Force Awakens."

The third grader from Evanston took action. She wrote a letter which her mother tweeted to game maker Hasbro.

Dressed in her best friend’s Rey Halloween costume, Annie Rose shared her letter.

"Boys and girls need to see women can be as strong as men,” she said. “Girls matter."

Hasbro initially replied that Rey was left out to avoid spoilers, but later tweeted at Annie Rose.

"We love your passion for Rey, and are happy to share that we will be including her in the Monopoly: Star Wars game, available later this year," Hasbro said.
Annie Rose comes from a family of Star Wars enthusiasts. They traveled to London to visit the set of “The Force Awakens”.

"I’m proud because I think it’s important for kids to be able to feel that their voice counts," Carrie Goldman, Annie Rose’s mother, said.
